TRACKING: Hot and uncomfortable weather

Showers and storms are possible through the morning

Today: There is a chance of some isolated showers and storms this morning through the early afternoon hours. After that, skies are partly cloudy and the warm up begins with high temperatures in the upper 70s in the north to the mid 80s in the south. Winds are out of the southeast around 5-10 mph.

Tonight: We may see an isolated shower or storm overnight tonight into tomorrow morning. The rain and storms are mainly to the north. Low temperatures are in the mid to upper 60s with a southeast wind around 10-15 mph.

Monday: In the morning showers and storms are possible and a few could be strong to severe, especially for our northern and eastern counties. Otherwise it is hot, humid, and downright uncomfortable with dew points nearing 70 and a heat index approaching 100. High temperatures are in the mid to upper 80s in the north and low to mid 90s in the south. Winds are breezy out of the south around 10-20 mph.

Tuesday: This appears to be the hottest day of the week with temperatures in the 90s nearly everywhere in eastern Iowa. 100 degrees isn’t out of the question for some localized areas. Dew points are in the upper 60s so the heat index is near or over 100 as well. If you need to be outside this day, make sure to drink plenty of water and get shade as much as possible.

Rest of the Week: Wednesday we may see another chance of showers and storms. Otherwise, it is dry and hot, with temperatures remaining in the mid to upper 80s through the weekend.
