IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- Spencer Petras hit a wide-open Nico Ragaini on a 44-yard touchdown strike in the final five minutes as third-ranked Iowa rallied past No. 4 Penn State 23-20 to remain a perfect 6-0 on the season.
The win marked the Hawkeyes sixth straight over a ranked opponent and their first over a top five team since knocking off Ohio State in 2017.
Iowa's prospects didn't look good in the early going after Sean Clifford led the Nittany Lions to a 17-3 lead in the second quarter. Clifford, however, left the game in the second quarter after a hit and never returned. Back-up Ta'Quan Roberson didn't find the same success, throwing two interceptions and leading the offense to just three second half points.
The Iowa defense, meanwhile, picked off both PSU quarterbacks twice, while Iowa punter Tory Taylor pinned the Nittany Lions inside the ten yard line multiple times.
With the win, Iowa has won 12 consecutive games.
