High School football Prairie beats Waterloo West 55-7

7th ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie turned on the offensive jets early and often Friday night in a 55-7 romp past Waterloo West at Memorial Stadium in Waterloo.

The Prairie defense also did its job, blocking a field goal attempt and a West punt. Prairie's Moses each also picked up a Wets High fumble and returned it for a Prairie Hawk touchdown on route to a 41-0 halftime lead.

Makelle Taylor had a big night for Prairie, with two first half touchdown runs.

Quarterback Brandon Vlcko scored a touchdown and passed for another in the first half, as Prairie gets ready for a showdown with Southeast Polk next Friday night at Prairie.

West goes on the road next Friday to play at winless Cedar Rapids Jefferson.
