A sheriff's office in Michigan says the parents of a teen accused of killing four students in a shooting at a high school have been caught early Saturday. Detroit police say James and Jennifer Crumbley were taken into custody at a commercial building in Detroit that housed artwork. Officers were called to the location after a tip from a community member. A prosecutor has charged the parents with involuntary manslaughter. The prosecutor accused the couple of buying a gun on Black Friday and making it available to 15-year-old Ethan Crumbley. The teen is accused of opening fire inside Oxford High School, killing four people and injuring seven others.

A prosecutor has filed involuntary manslaughter charges against the parents of a 15-year-old accused of killing four students and wounding seven other people at a Michigan high school. James and Jennifer Crumbley were charged Friday with four counts each. Authorities have said Ethan Crumbley opened fire shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday at Oxford High School, roughly 30 miles (50 kilometers) north of Detroit. Seven students and a teacher were shot before Crumbley surrendered to sheriff’s deputies.

Police in western Iowa have arrested a former high school math teacher accused of writing and planting notes threatening gun violence at the school. Council Bluffs police say in a news release that 37-year-old Katrina Phelan of Council Bluffs turned herself in to police on Wednesday after an arrest warrant charging her with three counts of making terroristic threats were issued for her. Police say Phelan admitted in an interview with detectives that she had written the four notes found over two weeks in November and that she had done so to try to show that the school is not a safe place. The school district says she is no longer employed there.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with murder and terrorism for a shooting that killed four fellow students and injured others at a Michigan high school. Authorities on Wednesday revealed that his parents were summoned just a few hours before the bloodshed. No motive was offered by Oakland County authorities, a day after violence at Oxford High School. But sheriff’s Lt. Tim Willis told a judge that Ethan Crumbley recorded a video the night before the violence in which he discussed killing students. Crumbley is charged as an adult with murder, attempted murder, terrorism causing death and gun crimes. A judge ordered him held without bond and transferred to jail from a juvenile facility.

An eastern Iowa man has been charged with murder nearly six months after his wife was found shot to death inside their home. The Scott County Sheriff's Office says in a news release Monday that 34-year-old Shane Bostrom, of Eldridge, is now charged with first-degree murder in the June 10 shooting death of 28-year-old Jessica Bostrom. Shane Bostrom was initially arrested on suspicion of various charges unrelated to the death, including several drug violations, misdemeanor child endangerment and felony obstruction. He has been held in the Scott County Jail since his wife's death.
