WATERLOO, Iowa (KWWL) -- A Waterloo East High School student was arrested and charged on Wednesday after police say he brought a concealed stolen gun to school.
Waterloo Community Schools spokeswoman Akwi Nji says that a separate student reported a concern regarding a weapon at school to the administration.
"Administration took immediate action to involve Waterloo PD and to ensure the safety of our staff and students was maintained We adhered to district protocols and the situation was swiftly addressed," Nji said in a statement provided to KWWL.
Waterloo police say that the gun was stolen out of Mt. Pleasant.
The teen was charged with:
Carrying weapons on school grounds
Minor armed with dangerous weapon-concealed on person
Person ineligible to carry dangerous weapon
Third degree theft
