Lost Island sustained a setback for one of its rides this week, when fire destroyed one of the buildings still under construction on the west side of the theme park.
It's believed the fire started when a temporary heating system caught a blanket on fire, though fire investigators will determine the exact cause.
The building was to have served as the queue area, where customers would wait in line for their turn to board the ride. In this case, the ride was a family ride, commonly known as a Flume (log) ride, and the fire destroyed the ride's control panel, located in the destroyed building.
Owners Gary Bertch told KWWL News Friday that ride is designed by a United Kingdom Company, but manufactured in France. For that reason, with ongoing supply chain issues, it's unlikely the ride will be up and running this season.
Gary and Eric Berth are guests on The Steele Report this week, but that interview was recorded just prior to the fire, so the fire issue will not be discussed.
They will talk about job openings and starting wages, as well as the park's progress and planned opening.
Watch the two videos with this story. The first is the Steele Report segment, which includes information on the two Job Fairs and how to apply.
The second is a story related to the fire damage.
