UPDATE: Two killed, one injured in Buchanan County crash Monday

UPDATE (10/19): Two people were killed and one person was injured in a head-on crash in Buchanan County on Monday. 

Just before 3 p.m., 40-year-old Nicholas Johnson was driving Southbound on Highway 150 near Hazelton when he crossed over the center line and hit another car driven by 70-year-old John Friend head-on.  

The Iowa State Patrol reports both Johnson and Friend were killed in the crash. A 65-year-old woman, Pamela Robinson, was injured in the crash and was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. 

A third car was traveling Northbound behind Friend and was hit by debris from the crash. 

Following the crash, traffic was rerouted from the highway until the scene was cleared.

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) - The Iowa DOT is reporting Highway 150, Jackson Ave., southbound closed due to a serious multi-vehicle crash.

The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office is calling the accident 'serious'.

Traffic is currently being rerouted from Highway 150 onto Fontana Blvd. The Sheriff's Office is encouraging drivers to avoid the area. 

The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office anticipates the closure lasting into early evening.
