Identity revealed in Linn County drowning incident

LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) - UPDATE:  In a press release from the Linn County Sheriff's Office, the drowning victim has been identified as 47-year-old Mechele Horak of Marion, Iowa.

One female has been pronounced dead following a tubing accident in Linn County on Saturday afternoon.

According to a press release, multiple agencies responded to a call of a missing female tubing on the Wapsipinicon River.

A female tuber called and reported that her friend was missing from the tube alongside her. Responders rescued the caller at the south bank between the Paris River Bridge on Sutton Rd and the bridge on Paris Rd.

Shortly after a rescue boat was deployed, the missing female was found unresponsive in the river at 2:08 p.m. Lifesaving efforts were initiated as she was transported to a nearby hospital.

The female was pronounced dead at 2:30p.m.

The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time.
