HILLS, Iowa (KWWL) - No one living in the small town of Hills can remember anyone living past 102 years old. On Saturday, Veva Jenn and Mary Hurt celebrated their 105th and 104th birthdays.

"You'll never see anything like this in a small town ever again," Bob Jenn said, Veva's son.

Veva turned 105 on Friday and Mary will turn 104 on May 5.

Around 100 cars met at Hills Park Saturday, and snaked their way to Atrium Village Retirement Home; where Veva and Mary were waiting.

"The outpouring of the community --besides friends and family-- is just tremendous," Bob said.

Bob did hold a slightly smaller car parade for his mom last year when she turned 104, but this was the first time she got to celebrate it with her second cousin Mary.

"They grew up running back and forth to each other's houses," Bob said.

Local fire departments, farmers, bikers and more all joined in. Veva and Mary also each had a sizeable stack of letters and gifts by the end of the day.

Bob says he's so thankful that community members took time on a beautiful Saturday to celebrate with them.
