IOWA CITY, Iowa (KWWL) - Iowa City City Hall will now offer free COVID-19 testing kits each week on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The kits will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at city hall, 410 East Washington St. They are supplied to the city by Johnson County Public health. As supplies allow, the stock will be refurbished each week.
The City says the kits should only be taken for immediate use. There is a limit of four test kits per household. Additionally, those picking up the kits must wear a face mask upon entering the facility.
Within each testing kit, there will be instructions for use. The City provided this video as a demonstration for residents. Upon completion, users can return the sample to a UPS drop-off location of their choosing. A prepaid UPS label will be included in the kit. Test kits should not be returned to City Hall.
Users can also drop off their kits directly to the State Hygienic Lab, 2490 Cross Park Road, Coralville. Should individuals have any questions, the State Hygienic Lab is available at 833-286-8378.
