UPDATE: Man shot by homeowner after forcing his way into Peosta home

UPDATE: Those involved in an incident overnight Monday at a Peosta residence on Peterson Drive have been identified.

The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office says that 27-year-old Rachel Wright returned to 110 Peterson Drive after a disturbance earlier on Monday with 29-year-old Desmond Jimerson. Jimerson then showed up to the house and was talking with the homeowner, 34-year-old Marcus Neal, who asked him to leave.

As Neal tried shutting the door, Jimerson pushed it open and forced his way into the home. Neal then shot Jimerson multiple times with a handgun once he was in the house.

Charges are pending on Jimerson, as he remains in stable condition at MercyOne Hospital in Dubuque.

PEOSTA, Iowa (KWWL) -- Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a possible burglary in Peosta that resulted in one person being shot. 

The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office say that the possible burglary took place at 110 Peterson Drive in Peosta around Midnight Tuesday and that the two individuals shared a mutual acquaintance. 

One of the individuals was transported to Mercy One Hospital after being shot, but is said to be in stable condition.

Dubuque County Sheriff's Office, Peosta Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, and Centralia/Peosta Fire Department all responded to the incident. 

The Sheriff's Office says that the names of those involved will be released Wednesday morning as the incident remains under investigation.
