CENTRAL CITY, Iowa (KWWL) - A teenager from Waterloo is being charged with allegedly having sex with and impregnating a 13-year-old girl last year in Linn County.
According to a criminal complaint, Mitchell Gray is facing Third-Degree Sexual Abuse for the incident that took place in Central City in the time frame between May 1st and August 10th, 2021.
Gray was 17-years-old at the time of the alleged incident. A DNA test was administered after the child was born that confirmed Gray was the father.
At the time when it happened, sexual abuse against a 13-year-old was considered Third Degree Sexual Abuse, but the law changed in July 2021 to make it now considered Second-Degree Sexual Abuse.
An arrest warrant was issued for Gray on May 6 and his bond is set at $10,000. He appeared in court on Tuesday and his preliminary hearing for is set for May 20 in Linn County.Â
