DUBUQUE, Iowa (KWWL) -- A Dubuque man accused of sexually abusing a child he knew for years was arrested on Wednesday.

According to a criminal complaint, 39-year-old Ivan Wilson started inappropriate contact when the victim was a child and continued for years.

A warrant was served for Wilson's arrest on Wednesday and he is charged with Lascivious Acts with a Child and Second Degree Sex Abuse.

In December 2021, the victim told the Iowa Department of Human Services about allegations of Wilson touching her inappropriately when her mother was away on trips. She said that she believed the first contact with him started when she was six-years-old.

In her interview, the victim said that when Wilson asked her to sit on his lap and cuddle, she fell asleep and woke up to Wilson's hand down her pants touching her.

She reported several other similar incidents that happened whenever her mother was gone. The complaint stated that the incidents are believed to have happened over a nine year span between 2011 and 2019.
