UPDATE: The City of Cedar Rapids has updated addresses for the drinking water advisory.

Residents living in the area marked in the map below are advised to boil water for precautionary use:

Affected residents should follow these steps:

  1. Bring water to a boil.
  2. Let it rapidly boil for at least one minute.
  3. Allow it to cool completely before consuming.
  4. DO NOT CONSUME BOILED WATER IF YOU ARE PREGNANT, NURSING OR PREPARING FORMULA FOR INFANTS — USE ONLY BOTTLED WATER.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) - The City of Cedar Rapids has issued a drinking water advisory, after a water main break occurred and created potential for bacteria contamination to occur.

Resident's living in the boundary beloware recommended to boil water before drinking it, as a precautionary measure.

Anticipated addresses to be affected are:

  • From Center Point Road NE on the west to Eastern Avenue NE on the east, including the Elmcrest Country Club and the Collins Aerospace facility.
  • From 42nd Street NE in the north to 29th Street NE in the south.

Right now, crews are working to fix the water main, and there is no indication of contamination.

The water department anticipates completing a bacteria analysis of the water by Saturday, June 12th. This will determine whether the advisory will be lifted or extended.

Until then, affected residents should follow these steps:

  1. Bring water to a boil.
