MercyCare staff add faces to badges

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) -- Health care workers at Mercy Cedar Rapids can now add a personalized touch to personal protective equipment used while treating COVID-19 patients.

Registered nurses, technicians and other workers in patient care are adding picture badges to their PPE's to help reassure patients and put them more at ease.

Mercy posted an example on Facebook of staff at the MercyCare Prairie Creek Respiratory Clinic with badges that featured a picture of them smiling.

"So, these 'face badges' are intentionally larger so patients can see the smiling faces of those who are behind the masks: just people taking care of people," said Mercy in a post.

Mercy said this is now being offered as an option to frontline employees, such as staff at respiratory clinics and the badges are cleaned between patient interactions.
