Iowa Rep. Ashley Hinson tests positive for COVID-19

WATERLOO, Iowa (KWWL)- Representative Ashley Hinson announced she tested positive for COVID-19 Friday morning.

Congresswoman Hinson represents Iowa's 1st congressional district, which covers much of Eastern Iowa. 

Hinson said she started experiencing mild, cold-like symptoms on Thursday afternoon. She is currently isolating and following CDC guidance. Hinson is fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.

"Yesterday afternoon, I began experiencing mild, cold-like symptoms. I took a COVID-19 test and the results were positive. I am fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19," Hinson said in a statement. "I am isolating and following CDC guidance as well as the advice of the Attending Physician, and am currently working remotely in Washington, D.C. My team and I will continue working around the clock for Iowans and I look forward to being back at work, in-person, soon.”
