Morning lockdown lifted at four CR schools

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Classes have resumed after a brief lockdown at four Cedar Rapids schools Wednesday morning.

The school district tells KWWL that at approximately, 8:19 am, a Jefferson High School student became combative with school officials, threatened to harm himself and left school.

When the student left the school, school officials and the Cedar Rapids Police Department decided to lock down nearby schools Jefferson High School, Cleveland Elementary, Roosevelt Middle School and Trinity Lutheran as a precaution.

School officials say the student did not make threats to harm anyone in these schools but due to their proximity, they decided to lockdown the schools as a safety mesure.

A short time later, police found the student at home and unharmed. The schools were notified and the lockdown was removed.
