UI Hospitals officials take pay cut

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -- University of Iowa Hospitals has announced that it will save $2.6 million by cutting pay and bonuses for top officials.

The university on Tuesday announced the move, saying the cuts are voluntary.

More than 40 senior management leaders will take voluntary pay cuts of 5 percent for the rest of this fiscal year, which ends June 30, and next fiscal year.

The university says that group also will not receive bonuses for this fiscal year or get raises for next year.

Officials say the cost-saving moves could be extended beyond next fiscal year depending on the hospital's financial performance and other factors.
