U.S. House approves renaming of Davenport federal courthouse

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KWWL) -- Rep. Bruce Braley's office tells us the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill Tuesday to rename the Davenport federal courthouse the "James A. Leach United States Courthouse."

Rep. Braley (D-IA) and Rep. Dave Loebsack (D-IA) introduced the bill earlier this year.  In 2007, the House passed a similar measure, but it stalled in the Senate.

Former Rep. Jim Leach, a native of Davenport, Iowa, represented the Second Congressional District of Iowa in the US House of Representatives for 30 years.

The bill now moves to the Senate for Approval.
