U of I graduate school sees drop in applicants

IOWA CITY (KWWL)-- The University of Iowa says its seeing a drop in applicants to the school's graduate programs.

Graduate College Dean John Keller blames the 8 percent drop from last year on the perception that it would be tough to secure loans. Others say they don't want to take on debt during the economic downturn.

Law school applications have dropped 10 percent..

Officials expect about 3,800 undergraduate students next fall, down 45O from last fall.
