ST. LOUIS -- University of Northern Iowa junior Kim Wypiszynski was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Wypiszynski averaged 17.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in the Panthers' two wins last week. She shot 14-of-22 (63.6 percent) from the floor, and she was 7-of-8 (87.5 percent) from the free-throw line.
Wypiszynski, a native of Ashwaubenon, Wis., shot 7-of-11 from the floor to score 19 points and collected four rebounds in UNI's 80-48 win over Wichita State. She finished with 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting to go along with five rebounds in the Panthers' 72-64 win over Missouri State on Saturday.
This is the first time Wypiszysnki has earned player of the week honors.
She has been named Newcomer of the Week three times.
Wypiszynski is leading the Panthers with 12.9 points per game, and she is scoring 14.8 points per game in MVC contests.
The women's basketball team will return to action on Friday when it plays against Drake in the quarterfinal of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.
