Rain forces wastewater bypass in Dubuque

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -- Heavy rain is forcing the city of Dubuque to pump untreated wastewater into a drainage ditch to prevent sewer backups.

The pumps are working on the west side of the city near Key Way Drive.  City workers are pumping the wastewater into a ditch that leads to the north fork of the Catfish Creek.  The Iowa Department of Natural Resources warns people to keep children and anmals away from the ditch for the next 48 hours.
