Dodging diabetes

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- UNI students and some friends from the juvenile diabetes research foundation dodged, dipped, ducked, dove but specifically dodged for diabetes today.

UNI's Kappa Sigma fraternity held its first "Dodging For Diabetes" tournament fundraising for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

All the fraternities on the UNI campus do tournaments like this, but this was Kappa Sigma's first for this type of research.

Kappa Sigma's Bryan Ward explains that they wanted to donate for research to diabetes because "its kind of a forgotten disease.  I mean it's getting bigger and a lot more people are becoming aware of it but... I think there still needs to be more awareness.

Kappa Sigma's Matt Blomberg added, "Aside from me because I have diabetes, it home because they saw... you can see here the little kids running around.  It just kinda hits home more than anything."

10 team tournaments is raised $600 that will be donated toward research.
