Odor study: a "pork" project?

WASHINGTON (KWWL) - President Obama vowed to put an end to wasteful spending, now he's under pressure to veto a 410-billion dollar spending bill before the U.S. Senate.
It's loaded with nearly eight billion dollars in earmarks-- money for special pet-projects for lawmakers.

The debate over some of that pork, revolves around the real pork here in Iowa.

Included in the billion dollar spending-plan is nearly $1.8 million for pig odor research in Iowa.  Some U.S. senators want out of the bill.

Some other projects deemed wasteful:
$238,000 for the Polynesian Voyaging Society in Hawaii
$300,000 for a world trade center - in montana.

The senate is now set to take up amendments to the bill Monday, with a vote likely to come Tuesday.
