Burlington man arrested in drug patch chewing case

BURLINGTON (AP) -- A Burlington man has been arrested after police say he failed to keep a woman from chewing on his Fentanyl painkiller patches.

Police say 48-year-old Klint Ross is charged with sponsoring a gathering where controlled substances are unlawfully used.

Police were called to Ross' home on Feb. 27 and found the woman unconscious and not breathing. They say an ambulance crew was able to revive the woman, who was taken to a local hospital. The condition of the woman, who police say overdosed on the patches, hasn't been released.

Police say Ross told officers the woman was left alone in his home the night before and had stolen his prescription and patches in the past.

Fentanyl is a synthetic painkiller similar to but more potent than morphine.
