Agriprocessors supervisor sentenced to 23 months

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- An Agriprocessor supervisor arrested after a massive immigration raid has been sentenced to nearly two years in federal prison for harboring illegal immigrants.

Martin De La Rosa-Loera, of Postville, pleaded guilty last summer to aiding and abetting the harboring of undocumented immigrants at the kosher meatpacking plant.

On Tuesday,  a U.S. District Court judge in Cedar Rapids sentence De La Rosa-Loera to 23 months in prison followed by two years supervised released.

Agents arrested the 43-year-old in July following a raid at the Agriprocessors Inc. meatpacking plant in Postville. During the raid in May, agents arrested 389 people, most of them Mexican and Guatemalan nationals.

Other top managers of the company also are facing federal charges. Their trial is scheduled for September.
