Flood Recovery Workshop

WAVERLY (KWWL) -- While flood-affected communities fight to get money to pay for recovery, many are still deciding what to do with that money once they get it.

The Rebuild Iowa Office and FEMA hosted a workshop in Waverly Tuesday night to help city and community leaders develop long-term recovery plans.

"To plan out what the community will look like in 25 years, not just in flooding but the community as a whole, education, residential, business and so forth," said Richard Crayne, Waverly City Administrator.

Waverly is one of ten eastern iowa communities Rebuild Iowa and FEMA are helping develop long-term disaster recovery plans. The others are Iowa City, Coralville, Cedar Rapids, Palo, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, New Hartford, Parkersburg and Oakville.
