Celebrating Dr. Seuss's Birthday

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- A lot of Cats in the Hat were hanging out in Eastern Iowa Monday.

It's in honor of Dr. Seuss's 105th birthday.  Dr. Seuss was also known as Theodor Seuss Geisel.

The famous children's author was celebrated in Waterloo at the Eastside Ministerial Alliance's head start class. The shooting stars, as they're called, are three to five-years-old.

The shooting stars are celebrating along with thousands of schools, libraries and community centers across the country.  It's part of the National Educations Association's "Read Across America" program.

Dr. Seuss published more than 60 books (translated into 15 languages), one of which celebrates its 50th birthday this year, coincidentally, "The Happy Birthday Book."
