WEST UNION (KWWL) - North Fayette High School student, 15 year-old Hilary Streif, is dead after the car she was driving lost control, slid into a ditch and rolled one and one half times coming to rest on its top. The accident happened at 8:15 am Monday on Golden Road approximately one mile east of West Union.

Hilary and her passenger, Morgan Mary Streif, 14, of West Union were transported to Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union where Hilary was pronounced dead. Morgan was transported to Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse by helicopter where she is being treated for back and internal injuries. The incident remains under investigation.

High School Principal Wayne O'Brien says Hilary Streif was very involved in school activities, most recently on the school dance line. A statement was read to high school students at the start of class Monday morning. Grief counselors were on hand, and a grief center is set up in the school library.

Another North Fayette High School classmate, Amy Larson, was also killed in a car crash just more than one year ago.
