Former Iowa players want sex assault trials delayed

IOWA CITY (AP) -- Attorneys for two former University of Iowa football players charged in a sexual abuse case wants their clients' trials delayed.

In a motion filed Friday, Abe Satterfield's attorney requested that his March 30 trial be put off until later this year. Attorney Alfredo Parrish says he has depositions in the case "tentatively scheduled" throughout April.

Earlier this week, an attorney for Cedric Everson, the other former player charged in the case, asked that his client's trial be moved back from April 20.

Leon Spies says he wants Everson's trial held after Satterfield's so that Satterfield can testify without the possibility of self-incrimination.

Satterfield and Everson were accused of sexually assaulting a female student-athlete Oct. 14, 2007, in a residence hall room.
