Living with less tips

WATERLOO (KWWL)-- Eastern Iowans learned tips on how live with less at an Iowa State University's Black Hawk County Extension workshop.

The workshop Saturday offered economic instruction and support at Waterloo's First Presbyterian Church.

The "living with less" workshop included help budgeting expenses, mortgages, and lending tips, along with related topics like cheap family fun, gardening to compensate for groceries, and positive thinking.

Keynote Speaker and Pastor Mary Robinson explained what she talked about in the discussion she led, "There is a lot of emotional pain.  There is fear and we need to know, how to overcome many of the obstacles that we a lot of time cause on ourselves.  This is a reality.  We're all in this together and we need to come out of it as best we can."

The workshop was originally going to be about investment plans, but organizers made a few changes due to current economic conditions.

The workshop was a first for the organization, but will probably not be the last because of the high community interest.
