The Iowa Department of Human Services finds that one in four girls and one in five boys will be abused before they turn 18.
DHS found that more than 13-thousand children were abused in 2007.
That is down about 15-hundred in two years - a decline of 10-percent.
The top three types of child abuse include denial of critical care, physical injury, and presence of illegal drugs in a child's body.
