CR Chamber creates portal to help business flood recovery

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Businesses still trying to recover from record floods have a new resource for help.

The Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce announced Friday its partnership with the Small Business Development Center at Kirkwood Community College, the Entrepreneurial Development Center and Corridor Recovery to introduce the Cedar Rapids Small Business Portal

"The Cedar Rapids Small Business Portal is the ultimate gateway for area businesses to find all things recovery -services, news, events and funding and grant opportunities,"  said Christian Fong, president of Corridor Recovery.

The Business Portal, which goes live Friday, operates as a one-stop resource for area businesses impacted by the flood of 2008, as well as offers local agencies a chance to combine knowledge, tools and resources.

Businesses wishing to use the Business Portal will have to create a unique login and confirm the accuracy of previously collected business information.

The Business Portal is confidential and allows logged in businesses the opportunity to discuss recovery needs, concerns and their recovery progress.  Local recovery funding will also be streamlined and administered through the Business Portal; registered users will have a chance to view and apply for any additional funding made available.

Business that login before the end of March will be entered in a chance to win an Apple iTouch.
