DALLAS/FT. WORTH, TX (KWWL) -- An sensor alarm forced an American Eagle flight out of Cedar Rapids to make an emergency landing in Texas.

WFAA-TV (CNN affiliate) is reporting American Eagle 3890 made a safe emergency landing at Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport just after 1 p.m. on Thursday.

Officials said the sensor indicated smoke in the cargo department, said witness Jamie Morrison, who works as a producer for CNN.

A light indicating a problem went off 300 feet from the runway, the pilot told passengers.

The crew is now restarting engines to carry out tests, Morrison said.

American Airlines flight 2461 also issued an alert on Thursday after smoke was reported and landed safely at the airport.
