Black Hawk County Gaming announces 2009 grant funding

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- More than a quarter of a million dollars is on its way to help Cedar Valley non-profits and local governments thanks to the Black Hawk County Gaming Association.

The Board of Directors announced Thursday their awards for the 2009 competitive grant cycle. 16 projects totaling $792,197 were awarded funding.

Each member of the Board of Directors reviews all applications received. Grant applications are rated on and prioritized based on the published guidelines and application criteria.

"The funding is being awarded to excellent projects and will serve diverse and important needs in the communities we serve," said BHCGA Board President Don Hoth in a news release.

"The Black Hawk County Gaming Association is delighted to assist area nonprofit organizations and local governments to complete projects that might not happen without our financial support," said Hoth.

The board voted to fund the following projects:
