Latham secures funding for ISU projects

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KWWL) -- Iowa Congressman Tom Latham secures federal funding for a wide range of projects at Iowa State University.  The money was included in an appropriations bill passed by in the U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday. 

The funding includes more than $300,000 for researching higher crop yields, $666,000 for lab expansions in the College of Veterinary Medicine,  more than a million dollars for the Food and Agriculture Policy Research Institute, and $650,000 for a first-of-its-kind cyber security defense program.

The measure now heads to the U.S. Senate before it could be signed into law by President Obama.
