Attorney wants delay in former UI player's trial

IOWA CITY (AP) -- An attorney for a former University of Iowa football player charged in a sexual abuse case wants the trial delayed.

Cedric Everson and a former teammate are accused of sexually assaulting a woman on campus in October 2007.

Everson's attorney, Leon Spies, has requested the trial be moved until after the trial of his former teammate, Abe Satterfield.

Satterfield's trial, which had been set for March 30, was moved last week, but no date was set.

Since Satterfield is to testify for Everson, Spies has asked that his client's trial, set for April 20, be delayed to avoid the possibility of Satterfield's self-incrimination.
