Terex Cranes will suspend operations next month

WAVERLY (KWWL) - The Terex Cranes confirms to KWWL that its plant in Waverly will temporarily suspend operations in March.

The company said the market conditions right now caused the action.

Terex will suspend operations from March 16th to April 10th.  Work should resume on April 13th.

Terex Crane General Manager Dan Slater tells KWWL that the work stoppage will affect 308 total employees.  176 of those are UAW union employees.

The company said workers will not be paid during this period but will be available for unemployment benefits.

The Waverly location manufactures rough terrain cranes, boom trucks and truck cranes. Slater told KWWL he hopes the crane business will improve once building projects in President Barack Obama's economic stimulus plan get underway.
