Bart Reiter wins 4th state title, Dons and Go-Hawks dominate again

Don Bosco senior Bart Reiter did what his brother Mac and only 16 other wrestlers in state history have done, win a 4th consecutive state wrestling championship.  The 135 pounder took down Bell Plaine's Cameron Wagner by a score of 7-1.

The Dons dominated the 1a ranks, finishing ahead of Bell Plaine by almost 100 points.  Don Bosco won their 4th straight team title joining Waterloo West (1942-1946) as the only two school in Iowa who can make that claim.  Four of the eight Dons in the finals won state titles.

In 2a, Denver-Tripoli finished a distant second to Ballard Huxley who almost beat Waverly-Shellrock's all-time team score.  The Titans got a state title at 119 from junior Levi Wolfensperger who had finished runner-up two years in a row.

Waverly-Shellrock held an 8 point lead on Iowa City West and Des Moines Roosevelt heading into the final round.  Three of five Go-Hawks won state titles including 135 pounder Jake Ballweg who won for the second straight year.  Iowa City West junior Nick Moore won his 3rd straight title but his Trojans came up 8 points short of Waverly-Shellrock.
