FAFSA assistance for high school seniors

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Students preparing to go to college got some help Saturday finding ways to help pay for it.

Even though it happened on Saturday, the inaugural Iowa College Goal Sunday brought low income and first generation students looking to go to college to the UNI Center for Urban Education in downtown Waterloo.  Volunteers from the Iowa Student Loan Partnership helped students fill out their FAFSA paperwork needed to apply for federal assistance.

"A lot of students may not want to go to college because they don't know the process and we're out there to help them through it. So, hopefully they can attain their educations goals," said John Holland with Iowa College Access Network.

This was just one of seven sites throughout Iowa holding the event Saturday.  Iowa College Goal Sunday is the national campaign, locally, organizers held it Saturday because they say it just worked out better.
