Former CIETC official gets 20 months in prison

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- A judge has sentenced a former CEO at a job training agency to 20 months in prison and $400,000 in restitution as part of an executive pay scandal

John Bargman III, former chief operating officer of the now-defunct Central Iowa Employment and Training Consortium (CIETC), pleaded guilty in 2007 to conspiracy to defraud the United States and misapplication of funds for programs receiving federal money.

He was sentenced to 20 months on each of the two charges to be served concurrently, followed by three years supervised release.

Bargman and other former officials charged in the case were accused of conspiring to misspend about $2 million on executive bonuses and salaries from January 2003 to April 2006.
