Farm Bill meeting in Waterloo

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Information about the the 2008 Farm Bill will be available Thursday in Black Hawk County.

The Farm Bill Meeting is designed to help answer questions for farmers and landowners concerning enrollment in current and new USDA programs.  The public is welcome to come and learn more at Tama Hall on the campus of Hawkeye Community College at 2:00 p.m. Thursday.

Rose Woerner, County Executive Director for FSA will address payment limitations and adjusted gross income issues, as well as provide a review of the current Direct and Counter-Cyclical (DCP) program. Shaffer Ridgeway, District Conservationist, will discuss the EQIP program, the Conservation Stewardship program and the Wetland Reserve program. Craig Chase, Extension Field Specialist, will address the new revenue component, known as the Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) program.

The Farm Bill meeting is open to anyone who wishes to attend. There is no charge for this seminar, however preregistration is requested to assist with the preparation of materials.
