DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- A former Catholic school principal accused of trying to meet a teenage girl for sex has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Louis Stroschein Jr. pleaded guilty in August in U.S. District Court in Des Moines to attempted enticement of a minor for sex.

Authorities say that the 32-year-old Stroschein, who resigned as principal at Shelby County Catholic School in Harlan, had online conservations with a person he thought was a 15-year-old girl between August and September of 2007.

He was accused of arranging to meet the girl in Black Hawk County on Sept. 14. The purported girl was in fact an undercover officer working for the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office.
