Plea deal in Waterloo murder-for-hire

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) -- A Waterloo woman accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill her ex-husband has struck a plea deal with prosecutors.

Kathleen Faichney entered an Alford plea on Tuesday. The plea means the 31-year-old doesn't admit guilt, but acknowledges there was a strong possibility she would be found guilty if the case went to trial.

Faichney made the plea in Black Hawk County District Court just as her trial was scheduled to begin.

Investigators have alleged that Faichney discussed a plot to kill her 27-year-old husband, Aaron Chrisp, with an undercover officer in November. They say she has been through two divorces with Chrisp.

Authorities say she provided information on where the supposed hit man could find him and handed over an undisclosed amount of cash.
