Omega Cabinetry reduces workforce in Waterloo

JASPER, INDIANA (KWWL) - Omega Cabinetry sent some employees a letter stating that the company was reducing its workforce.

In the letter, the company said that it was ending employment on Tuesday.

MasterBrand Cabinets, Inc., the corporate owners of Omega sent out the following release:

Due to the continued downturn in the home products market, MasterBrand Cabinets (MBCI) is making further adjustments to align production levels with marketplace conditions. As a result, MBCI has notified employees it is reducing the plant's workforce by approximately 100 positions. The facility will continue to employ approximately 800 associates.

"This challenging economic environment has significantly affected consumers of our products, reducing both kitchen remodeling projects and construction of new homes. While we have worked hard to minimize the impact to our workforce, we've regrettably had no choice but to reduce our production levels at various locations in this environment," said Greg Stoner, MBCI President. "We remain focused on outperforming a challenging market, and we intend to maintain the capability to ramp up production in Waterloo when market conditions improve."
