Pilot from Iowa will be laid to rest Friday

NEW YORK (KWWL)-- The pilot who was flying the Continental connection flight that went down last Thursday will be laid to rest Friday in Lutz, Florida, where he lived.

Iowa native, Marvin Renslow, is from Shenandoah, in southwest Iowa.

The pilot's brother, Melvin, lives in Utah and says the last time he saw Martin was in 2005, though they talked on the phone frequently.

The FAA says the plane that crashed into a home outside Buffalo was on autopilot at the time.

The company that operated the plane requires pilots to fly manually in icy conditions and federal guidelines recommend it.

50 people died in Thursday's crash.
