Daughter of former ISU coach charged with assault

IOWA CITY (AP) -- The daughter of a former Iowa State football coach allegedly struck and threatened a police officer and told him all charges would be dropped because of her last name and because the family has "a lot of money."

Jillian K. McCarney, the 21-year-old daughter of Dan McCarney, was charged Saturday night with assaulting a police officer.

Police say Jillian McCarney swore at an officer before striking him with her left shoulder and trying to kick him.

Police say Jillian McCarney also told officers her father would fight them.

Dan McCarney coached 12 seasons at Iowa State and resigned in 2006, compiling a 56-85 record with five bowl appearances in six years. He is currently the defensive line coach at Florida.
