Mulder Takes MVC Track Honors Again

Returning 2008 NCAA Indoor 800-meter champion Tyler Mulder was named Missouri Valley Conference Track Athlete of the Week after taking first place in the men's 800-meter run at the Meyo Invitational (Feb. 7).

The senior improved his provisional qualifying mark to 1:48.79 to take first place honors, finishing nearly two seconds faster than Indiana's De'Sean Turner who finished second with a time of 1:50.08. Currently, Mulder boasts the second-fastest 800-meter time in the nation, with Jacob Hernandez of Texas narrowly holding down the top spot with a time of 1:48.72.

This week's award marks the third Men's Track Athlete of the Week honor for Mulder this season.

The Panthers return to action this weekend, heading to the Tyson Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas Feb. 13-14.
