Ezelle Named Big 12 Player of the Week

Iowa State senior Heather Ezell was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week Monday by a media voting panel for games of Feb. 2-8. She averaged 18 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals in Iowa State's wins last week over No. 10/4 Texas A&M and Colorado.

The honor was the first of the season for a Cyclone and the second in Ezell's career.

Ezell shot 40 percent from the field and 50 percent (10-of-20) from three-point range in the two games combined. With her 36 points for the week, the Springfield, Mo., native moved up to 11th place on the Iowa State career scoring chart with 1,206 points.

She posted 25 points, including a 7-for-13 performance from three-point range, against the fourth-ranked Aggies. She also posted six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

In the win over Colorado, Ezell hit three treys and scored 11 points. She passed out four assists, grabbed three steals and recorded three rebounds.

Oklahoma's Whitney Hand was named the Freshman of the Week after she averaged 16 points and 4.5 rebounds in OU's wins over No. 12/15 Tennessee and Oklahoma State. She shot 73 percent from the field, including a 66 percent mark from beyond the arc. It was Hand's third such honor of the season.
