Two Johnson County businesses fail tobacco checks

JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) -- Two Johnson County county stores face fines after employees are caught selling tobacco to minors.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office conducted tobacco compliance checks in area communities on Friday February 6th.  Officers went to 26 different businesses throughout the county.  Two businesses failed the compliance checks.

According to a Johnson County Sheriff's Department news release, the following businesses were in compliance and did not sell to a minor.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Department says the following businesses violated the law by selling to an underage person.  The employee who made the sale was charged with providing tobacco to a minor and faces a fine of $187.00
